Blog Worthy

After 3 years and some stupid thousand miles I bought a new saddle. My only question is why in the name of all things holy did I ever wait this long?

Mt. Washington

Yesterday, Kristin and I on a whim decided  to go on a walk up on Mt. Washington.  It was beautiful weather, and we picked lilacs and watched kids skateboard over the city. I'm glad the weather is so pleasant again.  Also, I need to take these pictures with something better than an iphone.

TOGOMELETTE

Sometimes you have to wake up at 5 AM for work, and sometimes you decide the best way to make yourself get up is by cooking breakfast with someone else who needs to wake up that early for work to. Which is a great plan until as you are making tasty mushroom cheddar omelettes, you realize you have no time to eat it.  Thus was born the togomelette. Get it, an omelette to go! Delicious here or there!

At least 2, but never 3

This seems to be our unwritten code for a blog post. Here are Katy & I together in Pgh! The owl is Anne's stand in as it's been established - she likes birds.

Ps This blog is brought to you by our sponsor: Whole Foods - as I eat there at least thrice a week, no matter what city I'm in.

Photobombed by a Windshield Wiper

As I was sitting in my car waiting to take my friend to work i snapped this "gem". (Quotes for sarcasm) Another rainy morning. I should know better by now, just because the calendar says spring. Its not.  So I took matters into my own hands through one of those draw it apps and made it be spring. Mwah ha ha, I rule the world!

Creepy Geese

I'm currently waiting for my group of high schoolers to come learn geocaching on the North Shore. There are a gaggle of geese here that I think never leave. Not so migratory birds. We yinzers feed them too many French Fry salads. Basically we're dealing with obese geese. Anyway...I wanted to see how close I could get to them. I got so close that I sorta kicked one. Now they are all staring at me from over the hedge. I think they are plotting something. Hope my high schoolers get here soon.

Roup is not Pour Spelled Backwards

I spent a lot of time early this morning at the coffee shop across the street from the sign. Working on my proposal for a fellowship.  I hadn't gotten much sleep and kept staring at the sign.  My thought process was this:
Is roup just pour spelled backwards? Nope. Its not.  Why would someone name their street Roup? What kind of word is that? Probably someone's last name.  How un-original. It would be cooler if it was pour spelled backwards.  Wait, is it pour backwards? No, still doesn't work.  OMG! How much time have I been staring at this sign? People must think I'm a crazy person staring out the window and I'm not getting any work done! Argh!

Two hours later when I left the coffee shop, I thought should pay homage to the sign, and make it live in infamy on this blog.

Silky Smooth

So today my friend Lauren and I went to the lovely Pittsburgh Dance Center to redeem the the first of two Aerial Silks Acrobatics classes from a living social deal.  It was weird, and awesome, and made me feel like a kid again.  It has also renewed my desire freaking be able to do a pull-up.  As soon as my body recovers from trying to flip myself heels over head, i'll be back in the gym.  Thanks Lauren for finding this deal!

Follow your dreams...

They might just lead you here. To St. Raphael's fish fry. So good, so yinzer.

Femur

Sometimes your roommates go buy meat at a local butcher. Sometimes said butcher sells cow femurs for 4 bucks. Sometimes your housemates think they will make good dog toys. And when all that happens you find this on your living room floor. (Shoe for size comparison. Full disclosure my foot is a women's size 7.5)

Sunshine

A rarity in February. Took a lunch break to soak in the rays and walk off the desk cobwebs.

3 months

This is one of my housemates. He's awesome, cute and a great conversationalist. I pretty much have a big crush on him. Yesterday Steph ( my other housemate and Attison's mom) played a game called, Do what Attison Does. We all laughed and kicked our feet a lot.

The Fountain of Youth

You may have thought that title was symbolic, but I assure you it is quite literal. I found it today in North Park. Come one come all, stay young forever.... Only you might not want to stay too long. There are frozen bats in there.

Inappropriate

Went snowshoeing for the first time. It was a lot of fun! I saw this awesome old growth stump in trees. Truth be told though in the picture it looks like an old growth dump.

Ed's Diner

I got to eat breakfast with Mags today! Sitting down to a fantastic breakfast at Ed's diner got me to wondering about diner names. Is it a rule that all good diners are named after proprietor who has the most generic 1950's male name? Bob's and Tom's and Dick's and Joe's. The list goes on. Though really who cares?! As long as they make good coffee, and over easy eggs, they have my unwavering devotion.

P.S. Theory also proved by disappointing nature of Pamela's.

DJ Divine

On Wednesday nights, the Elks Club on the North Side of Pittsburgh opens its door (yep just one) for the public to come watch Pittsburgh Banjo Club practice.  This is not the greatest photo, but it gives you a glimpse.  My favorite part of the evening is when this lovely woman, DJ Divine gets up on stage with her feather boa and wows the crowd with some awesome tunes and a giant personality.  Banjo night often gets crowded with both yinzers and hipsters, but last night it was just comfortably full. Probably because it was 7 degrees outside.

Snowy Kiddos

MLK Jr. Day - In true AmeriCorps/ Non-profit world style. It was a day on, not a day off. But a good day none the less.  One of those days where I enjoy my job and feel like we're really doing something good. 300 people came out and enjoyed  ice skating for free.  And in true Pittsburgh fashion, I saw friends, and friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends, you know.
