Transit Station Art

I've encountered none as breath-taking as NYC, but in true hipster fashion, Seattle just thought: Put a Bird on it!

Tree Face

On our walk to Volunteer Park yesterday we found this outside one of the super fancy houses. I'm starting to settle into Seattle and things like this are helping; it feels good.

Groundhogs Day, BC

Visited SAM on free first Thursdays for the second month in a row (only got through part of the first floor last time) but I stumbled upon this in the Greek/Roman section.
Tell me the truth, is that Bill Murray?

Free Thursdays

The Seattle Art Museum has free admission on the first Thursday of the month. Anne & I went yesterday.

This is a print by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shoninare, best known for his works mixing British colonial dress of the 1700s with African prints.

As a linguist studying literacy, I loved this print for how it captured numbers, number-like shapes and the chaos of color - to me representing how learning to read & write in a second language can be exciting and confusing.
