About the Tri

An idea to look back over the year in photos. Not just the big events, but the little everyday life.

Here each of us posts a photo and a short explanation. Give us your comments, your opinions, your perspective. Or just enjoy the view.

I have no idea where I will be in January 2014. I just to moved to Bellevue, WA with my hubby into corporate apt. We'll be here for less than 6 months.

This summer I plan (pray and hope) to finish my master's in Linguistics - I just have to write a thesis first. My hubby and I also plan on paying off the last of our 6 figures of undergrad debt this year.

I have huge hopes for 2013 and more than my comfortable allotment of uncertainty. Capturing the year in snapshots of the day to day, I desire to keep myself grounded despite the dubiety of the season and celebrate the journey to attaining life goals.

Somehow, through no fault of my own, I am becoming a grown up. Which carries with it good and wonderful things, from making your own dinner to making your own decisions, to new experiences, greater understanding, and lasting friendships. But being a grown up also comes with bills, and responsibilities. For me, those responsibilities have also brought less spontaneity, and more cynicism.

This blog is one of my attempts to regain some of my idealism, and remind myself of all the wonderful things that are happening right under my nose.  I don't expect or want it all to be rainbows and butterflies.  After all it is compromise that moves us along... ;)

...but I do hope it serves to remind us of the important moments.  After all, as Lennon says, "Life is what happens when your busy making other plans."

I just moved to Seattle and am spending my time cooking, exploring, savoring the sunshine when it appears. Oh, yeah and finishing a novel. If you want more information on my writing check out my website, www.thebookflat.com.

I was interested in this idea as a way of using technology to track my year. It's too easy to forget all the little steps that got you through.

Hopefully my photos will not be all sunshine, mountains and coffee.

  1. What a great idea! I did much the same thing a couple of years ago. It's pretty cool to look back on as a whole: http://pachickster.blogspot.com/p/pic-day.html
